The Paddington Christmas Festival 2014

The Paddington Christmas Festival is on again in 2014 and with a great community vibe it’s something definitely worth checking out.
“It’s great to get behind our local community and I encourage all the local families to connect and join in the spirit of Christmas. Also I’ve had a word to Santa and he’s promised me he will also be in attendance,” George Hadgelias from Ray White Paddington, the festival’s major sponsor said.
Starting at 5.pm on Friday November 28, the evening will include a number of festivities along Upper Latrobe Terrace, including the Twilight Christmas Markets featuring an eclectic range of wares from retailers along the strip. The community street festival will start at the homewares store Thousand Island Dressing at 129 Latrobe Tce, right up to Sheets on the Line at 209 Latrobe tce, featuring fresh, modern and breezy soft furnishings to dress up the home.
In between are a number of unique stores worth a browse for some Christmas gift inspiration, decorations, or just something for your own home. These include Yesterdays Book and Things, Artisans Gems and Jewels, Green Tangerine, Du Monde by Daryl Wark featuring decadent gifts and furniture and many others, all competing for people to open their wallets.
A major attraction of the 2014 Paddington Christmas Festival will be the Christmas Twilight Markets held at the BrisWest Centre, 132 Latrobe Tce. Held from 5-9pm in the BrisWest spacious hall will be a number of stall holders selling handmade Christmas decorations, crafts, painted wooden toys, textiles and homemade treats – just like granny used to make.
This space is fast becoming one of the most popular for ‘pop up’ markets in Brisbane and is the venue where Paddington Excess Baggage second-hand market and the quarterly Paddington boutique fair. The BrisWest senior citizens centre has won the support and funding from the office of the Lord Mayor, as well as a donation from local MP Saxon Rice.
For those not interested in shopping, there’s still plenty on offer to make attending the Paddington Christmas festival a great night out. Christmas light displays, carol singers, face painting, raffles as well as a number of food and drink offerings will mean there is something for everyone. This includes the kids who will have a baby animal farm to keep entertained.
If there’s one event that will get you into the community Christmas spirit, this is it. Paddington is worth a visit on any day of the week, but for those looking for a social way to celebrate the season and engage with the community, the Paddington Christmas Festival is most certainly worth a visit.
