The BrisWest Centre is a community-managed, volunteer-run space in Paddington offering activities, events, hall hire and opportunities to connect with others.

Everyone is welcome. While our focus is on people aged 50 and over, people of all ages use the centre, attend activities and hire the hall.

We’re at 132 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, Brisbane QLD; right on the main street.

Yes. The centre is owned and managed by Brisbane West Senior Citizens Centre Incorporated, a registered not-for-profit community organisation.

We host a wide range of activities including movement and dance classes, discussion groups, markets, community conversations, creative programs and special events.

Not always. Some activities are open to everyone, while others are run by independent organisers who manage their own bookings.

Membership

Anyone can join — locals, regular visitors, hall hirers and people of all generations are welcome.

Membership is $5 per year.

Members receive invitations to events, opportunities to be involved, access to permanent hall hire rates, and a stronger connection to the BrisWest community. If you enjoy giving back, there are opportunities to volunteer throughout the year.

No. Volunteering is optional. Some members are very involved, others simply enjoy being part of the community.

Yes. The centre is managed by a volunteer committee and supported by many volunteers.

You can help with events, maintenance, administration, communications, or governance. Contact us or sign up to our volunteer list.

Yes. We welcome collaborations with like-minded community groups and organisations.
Venue Hire

You can hire the Main Hall and the Meeting Room (Library), either separately or together. The kitchen is a communal space that is available to the hirers of both spaces at any time unless exclusive use is booked in advance.

Classes, workshops, meetings, rehearsals, community events, markets and gatherings.

Contact us via the website form, by phone or email to check availability, then complete the booking form and provide insurance details. You can also view our bookings calendar before you make an enquiry.

Yes. All hirers must have public liability insurance (minimum $10 million).

Yes. Registered not-for-profit organisations receive a 30% discount on hire rates.

Membership is required for permanent (ongoing) bookings but not for casual one-off hires.
Facilities & Access

Yes. The main hall is at street level with step-free access. Accessible bathrooms are available.

There is limited parking at the front of the building. Most visitors use nearby street parking or Paddington Central.

Yes. Wi-Fi is available for hirers and users of the centre.

No. BrisWest is a shared community space. Other activities or committee access may occur at the same time.

Yes. The kitchen is a shared space and available for use during your hire.

Yes. The hall includes a sound system and microphones. Projectors and screens are also available for a small additional fee.

Yes. We are often used as a polling booth during local, state and federal elections.

Yes. When we run our suasage sizzle or democracy sausage stall, we always provide vegan sausages as an alternative along with beef sausages. We also provide Gluten free bread for those who prefer it.
