Spaces for Hire
The BrisWest Centre in Paddington is available for regular, occasional and one-off event hire, at very reasonable rates.
Spaces include the Main Hall, and a Meeting Room along with communal kitchen.
Main Hall
The Main Hall is a large, light-filled, 150 m² space with sprung timber floors, a stage, piano, AV equipment, data projector, screen, wi-fi, chairs, tables and a couch. Perfect for dancing and other physical activities, community events, parties, film screenings, plays, performances, markets, workshops and meetings.
Open the louvre and casement windows to catch natural breezes and views. Ceiling fans and air-conditioning also available.
Recently refurbished with dark green curtains, it’s a pleasant, uplifting space with ample toilet facilities.
Meeting Room
The meeting room features three conference tables that you can configure to your liking. It has a ceiling fan and air conditioner and has plenty of natural light.
It’s a great space to work, with access to free wi-fi, smart TV for presentations, a large whiteboard and seating for up to eight (8) people around the tables. Bookshelves in the room, house a fabulous library of local history books maintained by Paddington Then & Now.
Kitchen & Cafe
The Kitchen and cafe are communal spaces and available for anyone using the Hall or Meeting Room.
We are however open to hiring the kitchen as a stand alone room, it would make a great cooking class space. Interested? Please enquire.
The spacious Kitchen/Café features stainless steel working benches, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, dishwasher, gas stove, oven, cutlery, crockery, saucepans and serving ware.

Hire Rates (Overview)
The Main Hall with Kitchen/ Café can be hired from $28 for an hour; the meeting room from $35 for four hours.
AV use is included, whilst use of the data projector/screen (in the main hall) or flat screen TV (meeting room) – are charged at an additional $21 per session.

Not for Profit Discount
A 30% discount on hall hire charges is applicable for not-for-profit organisations.
Please note, NFP status will require written verification to receive discounted rates.

Public Liability Insurance Requirement
All hirers are required to hold $10 million public liability insurance, proof of which is required prior to confirmation of your booking.

Hall Hire (Permanent Bookings)
Full Day (8 hours): $187
Half Day (4 hours): $102 plus additional hourly rate up to 8 hours
Hourly: $28

Hall Hire (Casual Bookings)
Full Day (8 hours): $243
Half Day (4 hours): $131 plus additional hourly rate up to 8 hours

Meeting Room Hire
There is one meeting room available for hire, it has a whiteboard and comfortably sits eight people around the meeting table.
The space can be included as part of a hall booking, or booked separately at $35.00 for four hours.
A flat screen TV is available for use ( extra cost).

Full Site Hire
Per day (flat rate): $452.00
Includes use of whole ground floor (street level) of building (excluding offices) and removal of vehicles from the front of building.

AV Equipment Hire
The following equipment is available for use:
Sound system: included in the charge rates of the hall
Microphone/s: included in the charge rates of the hall
Data projector & large projection screen (in hall) : $21.00 per session ($15.75 for NFP)
Flat screen TV & DVD player (in hall): $21.00 per session ($15.75 for NFP)
Flat screen TV (in meeting room): $21.00 per session ($15.75 for NFP)
For regular bookings, a weekly rate may be negotiated.
Please note: The hirer is responsible for the cost of any equipment breakages or damage to the premise.

Kitchen / Cafe Hire
Use of the Kitchen / Cafe is included in the hire of the Main Hall.
As a communal space, the Kitchen may also be accessed by BrisWest tenants and users of the Meeting Room.

Is Wi-fi available?

The BrisWest Centre has NBN internet and 5G Wi-fi available.
The login details are posted prominently at the centre, and may be used by any users of the BrisWest Centre.
Is car-parking available?

As part of your hall hire, we have allocated one car park out the front for your use. The other car parks, even if they are free at the time, are not available for participants in your events. We need to keep these available for the respite centre, the committee and other hirers who may be using other spaces within the centre. Please let your participants know that they will need to find alternate on street parking.
How do we care for the floor in the hall?

Please be mindful of the timber floor in the hall. Do not drag chairs or do anything which may damage the floor.
What needs to be checked before leaving?

Please ensure you leave the hall, kitchen and bathrooms as you found them. These need to be clean and ready for the next hirer.
All windows and doors must be closed and locked when you leave. Please turn off the lights, airconditioners, fans and AV equipment.
How does the keyless access system work?

We use a Keyless Access System, using personalised PIN codes. Upon confirmation of your booking and receipt of payment, you will be emailed your PIN code and instructions.

All hall hirers are required to hold public liability insurance to cover your activities (with a minimum cover of $10,000,000).
Please supply a copy of your Certificate of Currency along with your Booking Form (this is required prior to confirmation of your booking).
If you have recently renewed your public liability insurance policy - please send this onto us.
Must hall hirers have public liability insurance required?

Full payment in advance is required for all casual hirers to confirm the booking.
Booking confirmation requires that you email your completed Booking Form, T&C Sign-Off and current public liability Certificate of Currency to briswestcentre132@gmail.com.
When is payment required and when is my booking confirmed (casual hire)?

When is payment required (permanant hirers)?

All permanent hirers will be invoiced for use of hall at the beginning of the month for the following month’s hire and payment is due within 14 days.
As a community-run space, membership of Brisbane West Senior Citizens Centre Incorporated (BWSCC Inc) is a requirement for permanent (ongoing) bookings but not for casual one-off hires.
The cost of membership is $5 annually. Find out more about Membership.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

BrisWest Centre has a strict cancellation policy. Any cancellations must be put in writing and emailed to briswestcentre132@gmail.com
Requests to change bookings (cancellations, reschedule, time changes) received more than 15 days prior to booking date are entitled to a full refund.
Any changes to bookings received between 2 and 15 days prior to booking date are entitled to a 50% refund.
No refund will be applied to changes to bookings less than 48 hours prior to booking date.
Can my hire booking(s) be effected if a local, state or federal Election is called?

The BrisWest Centre is a Polling Booth for local, state and federal elections.
When you book the hall on a Saturday in an election year, you need to be aware, your booking could be impacted by the calling of an election.
The State and Federal Electoral Commissions give approximately six-weeks notice (once the election has been announced), and if you have already paid, a full refund will be provided.
Can I get support to promote my event?

If you are interested in having your classes promoted, let us know and provide website and/or contact details which we could distribute to interested parties.
