Paddington Songbirds: Bringing People Together Through Music

A new community singing group, Paddington Songbirds, is providing a welcoming space for people in Paddington and surrounds to come together and enjoy the benefits of singing. Founded by local resident and volunteer Grace Lam, Paddington Songbirds was created particularly for older adults, with the aims of helping participants discover the many social, emotional, and health benefits that come from sharing music with others.

Research has shown that singing and music groups encourage social connections and stimulate memory, making them valuable tools for healthy ageing and dementia support. Beyond the health benefits, the group offers an opportunity for friendship, community engagement, and enjoyment in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

The group will meet weekly on Thursdays starting July 23rd from 11.30 am to 12.45 pm at BrisWest Centre, 132 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington.

Whether you are an experienced singer or simply enjoy music, Paddington Songbirds welcomes everyone to join in and be part of this growing community initiative. No auditions required!
